^ you need to clear all the big orange balls for a clean big ball >.<

I can add those in as alternates I guess, but I'll have to do it another time, it's too late tonight...

14 piece Rolling Away :brown: :boomerang: Brown Boomerang! :) It can probably be improved on, but I'm happy I got it

based on this, I made this, which does it in 10.

and the current junkyard :boomerang: can lose 1 piece.

edit: I have it down to 17.

On a Roll
Based this on jpodany's, but took out the extra stick (& tweaked, of course) :
http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1894466 :boomerang:4

This one amazes me.
I was interrupted (hence the 'wip') and came back to find it had inched (millimetered??) its way back into the construction zone.

It's a slow one, though.

I missed that in your original post. The only problem with your definition is that are so few levels that are possible, yet interesting to clean up. I just assumed that you were using the definitions from the original challenge threads.

The term "clean" from the Clean challenge thread meant to remove all FC pieces from the field. That thread produced "clean" or "clean champion" solutions. A subset of posts on that thread dealt with cleaning up the environment and I had alot of fun on that thread coming up with solutions to clean up the environment. Here was my original solution for cleaning up BB (slow but inevitable finish):
http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=262204

A new, more efficient clean solution to BB(62 pieces):

Off-Topic Rant:
My solutions posted above illustrate what I don't like about "simplest" threads. There is no functional difference between the three solutions, but only one is the "simplest". On threads like this, you always end up with people who do no work on their own to come up with a solution to a level. They simply take apart other people's solutions and see if they can throw away a piece. I wish that each solution was "read-only" such that you could not edit someone else's solution and then save it.

If I'd known it would crawl, I'd have got this last night

Level 10 - Up The Hump

Equaled the current best of 3 pieces although I only used 1 motor and 2 water sticks:
I consider this more minimalist since only one motor is used:

You'll notice that it's possible to remove the left water stick and it still works with 2 pieces. Try all you might though it doesn't quite make it over.

Higher: Unattached, Clean, Boomerang; 4 pieces

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1946123

edit:

???: Brown, Clean, Champion (unattached); 3 pieces
http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1953457

No idea what level this is or why I can play it, must be some glitch or something. I got to it when looking through some people's contraption in the list of "The Hump" on the game itself...

To me, the 'Simplest' threads are a search for the truth. What is the absolute minimum?
I thought it was the truth that Up the Hump needed 3 pieces to win. Lots of different ways, but 3. Now the truth is 2.

To that end, I'll take (for instance) Greentime's Unpossible 18 http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=1955276 and tweak it down to 16 (http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1969263 :brownchamp: ) without really doing anything original.
And not feel too bad about it. (until the next guy gets it to 15, 14, 13...)

EDIT: like my 4-piece brown Wall champ just fell.

I really like your changes. I had already theorized about getting it down to 17 but with your modifications I was able to generate a lot more power. So then I changed the whole catapult structure and got it down to 12 pieces.

Unpossible, Brown Champion :brownchamp:, 12 pieces:

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1972915

Thinking about that change led me to remove a piece from my big ball solution to get this:

Big Ball, Brown Champion :brownchamp:, 9 pieces:

I think MtDewd is correct. I think it is more that we are working in collaboration rather than trying to beat each other. We all have the same goal and that is to complete each level in a ridiculously low number of pieces.
