Minisimp's Elimination Competition inspired several "elimination style" competitions. I haven't run a competition in a while, but I had a few cool ideas I wanted to try out. So, I present to you, Contraption Survivor.
A true survivor needs to accomplish his goals using as few of his/her resources as possible.
The Rules: Solve the level with the required badge(s) AND try to minimize your pieces. Every round, half of the remaining contestants will be eliminated, and the half that solved the level with the fewest pieces will move on to the next round. If you do not submit a solution or do not solve with the required badge(s) you are automatically eliminated. If there are ties near the middle of the rankings it is possible that more than half of the contestants will advance (i.e. if there are 10 contestants, and ranks #4 through #7 tie, all top 7 will advance and only 8 9 and 10 will be eliminated).
*updated 2/24 at 3pm CST*
The Twist: If you WIN a round by having the fewest pieces, you gain a sort of immunity for the next round. You must only solve the next round's level with the required badges to advance, you may ignore the piece count elimination process. Note you must be the single winner of a round to gain immunity
No immunity will be at stake in rounds with 5 or fewer contestants.
The Second Twist: I'm experimenting with a different kind of FC challenge. Every level in this competition will
The qualifier is due Monday at 3pm Central Time, and each additional round will have at least a 48 hour deadline to accommodate time zone differences and busy schedules. While subject to change, I plan to have deadlines on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3pm, with each round's challenge posted immediately when the deadline passes for the previous one. That's just how I roll.

One More Note:
I know there are a lot of people hosting competitions that don't do a necessarily spectacular job... I've been around these forums for a while and even though I haven't really hosted many competitions I've learned a good deal about good hosting pratice. I promise you that i'll keep deadlines, not change rules in the middle of the competitions, or any other unchill stuff like that. I check these forums often, and I am dedicated to hosting a really great competition. I hope you enjoy participating as much as I enjoy running it.
Good luck!
