Here's my 2 piece On a Roll that takes about 3 seconds - http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=1149909

Edit: Hmmm...I haven't timed them, but tonyk@inbox.ru's two piece looks like it might be a touch faster. http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=1162208

You shouldn't post someone's email address on the forum. Worth editing your post before any spambots get hold of it.

That is the person's username here. If the spambots want it, it's everywhere he/she posts.

handling improved, uses 2 pieces but still fast

looks like tonyk's on a roll solution was best, although others were interesting too

I think this may just barely take it for Four Balls:

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1198158

We're talking about 10ths of a second in any case.

edit: Oh, not even close, because flagitious's time is actually ~9.7 seconds rather than 13.5 ;)

Wow, this is art ! I love the leverage arrangement in there. You are using the shaft to swing, and I like how you get the circle to jam against by pinning it off center.)

Your design for "U-Term" is also great ... how long did it take you to fine-tune that one making the ball stay put on the swing ? :-)

ghorsche, I get about 13 seconds for your design and 13.5 for mine. You must have a faster computer than me or something. A built in timer would really help this challenge, but in the meantime as long as comparisons in speed are done by same computer it shouldn't be huge issue.

Argax, thanks. The precision U-Turn probably took about an 30-60 minutes. It isn't too hard to get it in the goal with that method, using a binary like search to find the right placement, but it took alot more effort to get it in the goal before slowing down from hitting the ground. First I had been trying with a longer arm, but once switched to shorter one it was much easier.

this type of catapult seems better for the wall, but usually its about the same as a clockwise one
