I got whocares' creation for U-Turn down to 75 rods. It takes a long time to run (more than five minutes), but it works. If the one I modified wasn't a champion, then I'm not sure if this one is either (but since there is less weight, the long "pusher" rod won't get pulled out as much, and might stop before it comes out completely).

Also, I'm working on a 4-piece champion for Reach Up. So far, I can get it to finish, but I can't get the one leg to swing out far enough to hold it steady. Maybe someone else can get it to work. link.

EDIT:
I watched the U-Turn contraption for five minutes after it finished, and it never left the goal area, so I continued to let it run. After an hour, I went back to it and it still hadn't left. It was in the same position that it was in after I stopped watching it. That means it's a champion.

They all seem possible (I say that because of the solutions I just saw) but insanely hard... maybe some kind of spring extender thing in tube would work? just thought of this attempt for a brown solution I saw a while ago:

I attempted to do Big Ball (how foolish of me), and the only way I could see it is to make a catapult. As we ALL know water catapults make no sense, but I actually got quite far. If you tweak it too much is stops working so i dunno, maybe somebody can tweak the distance.

I knew it could be done. Great job on pulling it off!

Also, I came up with an idea on how to solve Four Balls with water rods only; use the two right balls to carry (or throw) the two left balls into the goal. I made a quick and dirty proof of concept contraption that uses two balls to carry the other two (with a water rod connecting them to each other). Link. So it is possible, but it's going to be hard as hell to make it work.

It is possible [prototype], but it's hard as hell to pull off, which is why no one's done it yet. The only reason the protype doesn't currently work is because the "basket" is rolling, making the front wheel push the top right wheel off of the basket itself (plus there's powered wheels and wooden rods, but that's not my point). The basket has to be some sort of slingshot for it to work.

However, the level Back and Forth is impossible because you have no goal objects in the goal area, therefore nothing to pull the ball with.

I really want this idea to work for up the stairs but I'm not sure if there is a better way to design something like this. I'd need more time to just sit down and plan it out.

And I made one like the last two except it got both balls, but it froze up when I tried to save >.<

Most of them are close to the max piece count before a black hole, so beware.
