Problem: baned Posting

Postby Gunnar9797 on Fri Aug 07, 2009 10:27 am

Fcontr, you may remember him. He always made threads with the lyrics to "Never Gonna Give You Up" (more commonly known as the rickrolled song.) One day, you finally baned him. Though it is always sad when you must slam the ban hammer on somebody, I believe if they broke the rules and you decided to ban him, they should not continue to post.

My problem is though Fcontr is baned, they are continuing to post. If you search their posts you will see that they have posts a few days after the baned date and very recently.

Yea, how can they post if they are baned? I noticed that too.

He is in the baned usergroup. This group may not have any different permissions than everyone else. There is an option in the administraton control panel for baneing. However, I don't think that anyone can be baned by being put into a usergroup. They can only have severely limited permissions.

Weasel has mentioned that he has had trouble with managing usergroups before. Just be patient.

Its always funny how in english you say "they are continuing to post" instead of "he is continuing to post". I will never get used to that

Some times the word they refers to one person. Although this is incorrect and 'he/she' should be used people still use the word they commonly.

you say they because it refers to the collecitve group of baned ,not a single person but as a group

If a guy runs into a store with a gun, you say "He just ran in there!"

If a girl runs into a store with a gun, you say "She just ran in there!"

And if the person is wearing a ski mask... "It just ran in there!" doesn't really work. The gender neutral term to use is "They." "They just ran in there!"

Uh, weasel, that guy is fcontr. He created another account. I know this because he posted in the *sigh* thread in Off-Topic:

I feel your pain... My other account (fcontr) can't access the forum.

My problem is though Fcontr is baned, they are continuing to post.

you were talking about Fcontr, and until now, i havent seen anyone else posting while being baned.

Its weird how in school they teach us how he is third person singular, and they is third person plural, and now real english talkers do it different, also, how i have seen endless amounts of people spelling grammar wrong

Why do they get baned for rickrolling? I haven't seen a rule about it and it.

It's only when the rickrolls are overused and when the links to them freeze your computer. (not the YouTube version) In general, don't rickroll people here, you might get in big trouble.
