Rotate wheels/toggle rods

Hi, im new here but am addicted to the game. In building my contraptions i rarely have problems but one problem i have had is with connecting rods on the outer points on the wheel. As the possible connection points are fixed at north, south, east and west sometimes i cannot use solid rods where i need to as they overlap with rods coming out the centre of the wheel. I was just wondering if it would be possible to add an additional tool which would allow you to rotate the wheels which you put down either with a snap to angle feature or a full free rotate.

Also as an after note i was wondering if it would be useful to add a button which would toggle the display of "built" rods, i.e. you press the button and all rods already made go transparent until you press the button again. This would help in doing close detail in smaller machines.
