Pilots are solutions in which the goal piece(s) never touch(es):

the ground (or the ceiling/walls, silly!)
moveable blocks such as those in The Wall or boulders such as those in Awash

The piece(s) may touch any part of your contraption(s).

This applies even after the goal piece(s) reach(es) the goal. As always, simple and/or champion solutions are preferred and will be given precedence. If you want to go for green/wheel-less/other arcane designations, more power to you, but they are not a requirement. I will update the list as I get time. Since I'm a firm believer that simple solutions are often boring, I will maintain a separate list for creative, novel, and ingenious contraptions. These are the ones that make you go, "Wow!"

Special cases:

Four Balls: A Four Balls solution shall be considered a valid pilot if the goal pieces do not touch any level surfaces other than the one they start on.
Back and Forth: A Back and Forth solution shall be considered a valid pilot if the ball is extricated from the ground by the contraption before entering the starting area (or the line extending above and below the beginning of the start area).

Special note:
It has come to my attention that Linkzcap came up with the basic idea for Pilot before I did. He called it Airborne. Although I hadn't heard of Airborne when I came up with this competition, I want his name to be associated with the Pilot designation as much as mine is.
