I almost have Unpossible in 5, but it needs a bit of tweaking. Anyone want to try? (I have an essay I should be writing)

I just finished making 5 piece solution to Unpossible:

I believe this is a new record.

We have pretty much the same idea - that is - removing the wheel from the 6 piece solution, but I have to say that's pretty far from completion. I started working on my 5 piece contraption yesterday and had the pink ball about 50% inside the goal area within an hour or so of tweaking. After that the progress was extremely slow. I probably spent four additional hours to produce the solution.

Does anyone think Up the Hump can be done in two?
http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=105929
(It doesn't look like it)

Also, would it make any sense to include some user levels in here?

That's hilarious
I just spent the last half-hour independently coming to the same conclusion

It got rid of one power wheel, so it's now 1 power wheel, 1 unpowered wheel and 1 stick:

Level 10 - Up The Hump

Equaled the current best of 3 pieces although I only used 1 motor and 2 water sticks:
I consider this more minimalist since only one motor is used:

You'll notice that it's possible to remove the left water stick and it still works with 2 pieces. Try all you might though it doesn't quite make it over.

I've come up with a similar solution. I've also come verrry close solving it with two pieces (not telling what they are :xd: ). The tweaking continues...

Congrats! That's perfect.

I shall reveal my failed attempt now that it doesn't matter anymore:

You do realize two of your six pieces are completely unnecessary? http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=2171540

I'm not sure if this is simpler, but it's a 2-piece solution to full up that does not use any wheels.

Are sticks simpler than wheels? Or does only the number of parts matter?

Very nice, but for this it is just number of pieces which matters. However in the thread simplest badge challenges, it would matter, and it beats the previous record of 3 sticks for a brown champ in this level.

ok, i am not reading, and clicking 24 pages of contraptions.

this is the SIMPLEST CONTRAPTION EVAR.
there is no way to beat it:

http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=2495790

it has 0 parts
0 rods
0 wheels
nothing, and still wins

How about just reading the second post of the thread? The post where there's a huge list of the simplest solutions.

Around the bend in 2 pieces

edit: I really should have watched the example above - no pieces, just gravity :)

I almost* have Awash in 2, but I'm on saved revision 30 and feel like opening up the effort to the general public.

Here a couple of my closer attempts:

In theory, the size of the piece on the right side of the fulcrum needs to be minimized while the size of the left and the distance of the ball away from the center both need to be maximized. Also, the higher the goal ball is to start with the less distance it needs to be tossed up, so I assume the fulcrum piece should be as tall as possible without causing the large ball to push farther away from the pivot point.

The last time I submitted an in-progress simplest solution, the record-breaking solution came out very soon afterward (albeit an independent effort), so I have some confidence that the community can help work on this one.

*almost = a few hours of tweaking, minimum (unless you are very lucky)
