I missed that in your original post. The only problem with your definition is that are so few levels that are possible, yet interesting to clean up. I just assumed that you were using the definitions from the original challenge threads.

The term "clean" from the Clean challenge thread meant to remove all FC pieces from the field. That thread produced "clean" or "clean champion" solutions. A subset of posts on that thread dealt with cleaning up the environment and I had alot of fun on that thread coming up with solutions to clean up the environment. Here was my original solution for cleaning up BB (slow but inevitable finish):

Off-Topic Rant:
My solutions posted above illustrate what I don't like about "simplest" threads. There is no functional difference between the three solutions, but only one is the "simplest". On threads like this, you always end up with people who do no work on their own to come up with a solution to a level. They simply take apart other people's solutions and see if they can throw away a piece. I wish that each solution was "read-only" such that you could not edit someone else's solution and then save it.

Level 10 - Up The Hump

Equaled the current best of 3 pieces although I only used 1 motor and 2 water sticks:

You'll notice that it's possible to remove the left water stick and it still works with 2 pieces. Try all you might though it doesn't quite make it over.

To me, the 'Simplest' threads are a search for the truth. What is the absolute minimum?
I thought it was the truth that Up the Hump needed 3 pieces to win. Lots of different ways, but 3. Now the truth is 2.

To that end, I'll take (for instance) Greentime's Unpossible 18 http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=1955276 and tweak it down to 16 (http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=1969263 ) without really doing anything original.
And not feel too bad about it. (until the next guy gets it to 15, 14, 13...)

I really like your changes. I had already theorized about getting it down to 17 but with your modifications I was able to generate a lot more power. So then I changed the whole catapult structure and got it down to 12 pieces.

I think MtDewd is correct. I think it is more that we are working in collaboration rather than trying to beat each other. We all have the same goal and that is to complete each level in a ridiculously low number of pieces.
