Something new? (Boomerang Challenge)

I'm somewhat new to these forums, so I don't know if this has been tried, but I was fiddling around tonight and thinking about the "champion" challenges, where you leave the objective in the goal. Those are fun and all, but some of the levels it's almost a given that the ball will stay in the goal. Then I thought to myself "Self, what if I played one of those levels and put the ball back in the workshop when I was done?" This sounded like a new thing to me, so I thought I'd have a go at it.

I picked sort of an easy one to start, and it's ugly, but here's my solution for Big Ball.

Hadn't really considered it! Call it the "Put your toys away when you're done" challenge or some such...


I REALLY want to solve 4 balls this way, because it seems like it would be ipecac, but I'm not sure there's enough workspace. The most promising idea that occurred to me was a simple flinger and a winding chain to reel a basket back, but the chain gets in the way too much and the goal is too small to hold my basket with a wheel. I tried flinging a basket with no wheel, but I just run into different space issues.

Great idea! Probably one of the most difficult challenges too, considering what you have to do for some of the later levels.

I'll add this to the "officially sanctioned" list once you settle on a name. "Boomerang Challenge" sounds pretty catchy.

You can't make a winch with water rods, as they'll just pass through the pulley.

Heh, yeah, I know... I was trying for like half wood and half water rods in varying combinations for a while because I needed balls to pass through part of it and have part of it wind... etc. It was a 3 in the morning design and prolly just needs to be entirely rethought.

Also, yeah.. the Boomerang Challenge is a dandy suggestion. Call it that.
