DTRM!
I loved seeing the entries here! I was sure compscure was going to win it… until I woke up this morning and found two shiny new entries in my inbox. I am really happy with all of the designs submitted. Although it wasn't as big of comp (# of entrants wise), the quality of the entrants was top-notch, so thanks guys! I thought it was really interesting that there were multiple competitive entries to Three Balls: the long pult, the short pult, and the raising ramp. Also interesting was Slip: there was the 1 piece solve, the top-champ, and a number of bootom-champs. There was relative convergence on Slide, but still some interesting varietals.
Without further ado: here are the scores

From various altered manuscripts:
3/40ths of a Score and multiple days ago, Colin Northway brought forth on this internet a new game, conceived in physics, and dedicated to the proposition that getting red items into goal areas should be fun.
Now we are engaged in a great number of competitions, testing whether you, or any other contraptioneer so concentrated and so dedicated, can long endure.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
First, Colin Northway made Fantastic contraption. The game was fun, but it lacked a win condition. And Colin said "Let there be goal pieces"; and there were goal pieces. And Colin saw that the goal pieces were good, and it separated the winning contraptions from the losing ones. Then Colin unleashed the game upon the internet; and saw that it was good. On the first week, a contraptioneer decided to create a contraption without powered wheels and said "Let this be an green design"; and it was so. In the second week, another contraptioneer made a contraption without any wheels and said "Let this be a brown* design"; and it was so. In the third week, I named a new badge for contraptions that stayed in the goal area forever and said such designs were "Champions"; and it was so. And Colin saw that it was good.
*Initially called "Anti-wheel league"
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
I have a dream that one day, this community will rise up and say: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all contraptions are created equal."
I have a dream that my poor little contraptions will live in a world where they are not judged on the color of their badges, but on the content of their greatness.
I have a dream today!
*Applause*
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Unfortunately for my dream, this won't be happening any time soon. And to enforce contraption segregation, I have decided to hold one last competition (at the behest of Cruiser, compscure and Poots). For those of you that don't know who I am, I (for better or worse) created the "Hap" scoring system, and have had a series of random Haphazard competitions over the course of the past 2 years. My competitions aren't fancy: 3 levels, solve them using a simple scoring system, and PM them to me. No leaderboard, no multi-tiered elimination system. Just levels and solving them. Who knows if the levels this time around are any good, but I hope you enjoy them!
Rules:
I Officially Present
The Haphazard Competition
Ok.. I suck at coming up with names, but that is not the point.
If enough people are interested I will post 3 custom levels, and everyone who wants to play will attempt to solve each level with as few pieces as possible.
Scoring will be like golf, where the lowest score wins, and is outlined below.
Not completing a level: +90
Each rod or stick: +1![]()
![]()
Unpowered wheels: +2![]()
Powered wheels: +4![]()
![]()
Achievements:
A green solution: -10 or 1/2 your score, whatever decreases your score the most (use no powered wheels)
A brown solution: -4 (only rods/sticks used)
A boomerang solution: -7 (bring all goal pieces back to the start area)
A champion solution: -5 (keep the ball in the goal)
A lightning solution: -4 (beat the level in less than the recommended number of ticks)
A clean solution: -3 (clear all remains of your machine from the stage)
Note: no glitchy solutions allowed.
Prizes include
* A customized Congratulations message
* Honor
* One (1) miracle. only redeemable at your nearest miracle redeeming kiosk
* Three (3) good dreams no purchase necessary; consume at your own risk
* The right to say you are "A kick-♥♥♥ contraptioner," also known as a Akac
* A new avatar, if you so desire
* A shiny new 'internet friend' (TM)
People should PM me their machines so ideas aren't stolen, and I will present them at the end.
Anyhow, let me know below if you would be interested (Note, you must have paid the 10 bucks in order to play the custom levels).
IMPORTANT! When sending me your submission, you need to give it to me in the template outlined below. Thanks.
Levels
First, make sure you don't Slip-up when trying to solve the first level. (Ticks for lightning badge: 110)
Next, ensure you don't waste any pieces; it is easy to Slide down the rankings. (Ticks for lightning badge: 110)
Finally, what happens when you take the 14th level and get rid of a
ball? Three Balls. (Ticks for lightning badge: 210)The deadline is next tuesday, 10 AM Eastern Time!
Remember to send it in using the following template. (Copy and paste: then change the values)
