As far as I can tell a true trebuchet, just not enough power yet...

Wow. That's really good.

For those who are confused, a trebuchet is a siege engine that launches it's projectile using a counter weight. As opposed to a catapult which uses rope tension.

Played around with this with some other internet friends of mine. One of them tweaked my design to something that really works.

As I said I can't take full credit for this, a friend of mine did it based off of my original design.

wow that's an awesome design, if you put blue wheels at the bottom of the tripod you'll give it a little extra power

Being completely new to this and blissfully unaware of the difficulties, I attempted to solve Mind the Gap with a trebuchet. My first version was crude but got the job done; this is a refinement to make the whole thing look (and work) better. I think I have done pretty well. It's a real trebuchet with a caveat: It can only be used for cliffside sieges!

Same machine and level as posted previously, but with wheels added.

Same basic operation on a different level:

Great fun tuning and firing this contraption. :D

"Up the Stairs" completed with a (mostly) trebuchet.

That's a fair fixed sling treb, but using your design I managed to make a free sling treb... Not up there with a warwolf design, but good enough for me...

I made one with a more traditional release mechanism. Trebuchets usually let go of their projectile by releasing the sling at the optimum moment. One half of the sling is attached via a hook and the rope slips out to release.

Hi all!
I made this trebuchet. I´m surprised at how powerful it is, although if tweaked it looses power easily. Somehow even redoing a line can ruin it. Is this normal?

It's close with http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=421747

If I was using a level with a little ball I think it'd work great

Ok, I think I'm adhering to what a trebuchet actually is here: http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=475495

I used a tiny payload and a huge counterweight. Normally the connection between the arm and the sling would be a bit longer, but that might make it a bit heavy in this game. The elasticity of the rods in the game makes it more difficult, but it also has the interesting effect of allowing the arm to continue moving after the counterweight has hit the ground.

Not sure if this counts or not, but it's pretty powerful as it is.

Parbreaker, your origional design worked fine. I just added a single weight...

I was going for authenticity as opposed to practicality. As such, it does not work. Not enough weight. But the sling is attached as in a real trebuchet, and would work correctly weight sufficient force.

Also, I used a modified pivot, where the arm hugs a wheel which is attached to the base. Seems stronger than a pure pivot.

Excellent job, but I believe the weight should swing right under and the payload is usually held in a net or more flimsy than your basket.
