A quick update; Pacifist has been toying with some database structures on the old server in an attempt to patch up the performance a bit. You might get the occasional odd error as levers are pulled ... Still getting the new server cluster early next week at a new host. When the servers are deployed there might be a bit of downtime (DNS issues themselves can take up to 24 hours; database wrangling and reconfiguring might take a few hours). But after that we should be golden!

(oh and for the few who asked a long time ago - yes the databases are indexed. don't be silly. Obviously if you have any ideas on how to improve database responsiveness we are all ears; we have over 200 active database connections at any given time - reading and writing all sorts of junk)

Yeah it's one of those things where we ask for upgrades and the host said "sure! it'll be done ... today ... probably" and we just sit and cross our fingers.

That's one of the reasons why hosts are changing.

I think you'll see everything has sped up now except saving.... hopefully it holds!
